The World Health Organization has just announced that Swine flu, or influenza A(H1N1), is officially a pandemic. It’s the first influenza pandemic pronouncement since 1968.
When an infectious disease spreads through populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide, it is considered a pandemic.
At this time, WHO considers the overall severity of the influenza pandemic to be moderate. So DON”T PANIC !!!
The moderate assessment reflects that:
- Most people recover from infection without the need for hospitalization or medical care.
- Overall, national levels of severe illness from influenza A(H1N1) appear similar to levels seen during local seasonal influenza periods, although high levels of disease have occurred in some local areas and institutions.
- Overall, hospitals and health care systems in most countries have been able to cope with the numbers of people seeking care, although some facilities and systems have been stressed in some localities.

Excuse my language, but this whole time I’ve been thinking “it’s not a fricking pandemic people!!! It’s not even as bad as regular flu!!!” I still say this after reading this post. (I changed my website link to my YouTube, so if anyone reads this, would you please tell me if it worked or not…?…)
