Anti-hydrogen could lead to anti-gravity and hoverboards

The Antihydrogen Laser Physics Apparatus (ALPHA) at the CERN particle physics laboratory announced that they have been able to hold 309 atoms of antihydrogen in a magnetic trap for 1000 seconds, approximately 10,000 times longer than before.

When they experimented with the anti-atoms last year they verified that they were in fact antihydrogen atoms by releasing them from the trap and observing them being annihilated by hydrogen atoms.

Scientist also want to find out if the anti-atoms exhibit antigravity effects. This would mean the atoms would fall up instead of down. Harnessing these atoms may lead to the creation of hoverboards.

Since this would be a violation of the law of conservation of energy it is unlikely, however many scientist still find the idea worth exploring. Learn more here.
